‘Dollhouse’ Pilot Script Review

A lovely review about the pilot script — not to worry, there aren’t any spoilers. Read a selected extract below about the lovely Amy, while the full article is available under the cut.
“And knowing who’s been cast already, I can easily see Tahmoh Penikett as Paul, the FBI dude who’s maybe on to something. And Dr. Claire Saunders should provide another opportunity for Amy Acker to display her range, because as we’ve seen from Fred/Illyria and from her turn on Alias, girl’s got chops.”

‘Dollhouse’ Launch

Exciting news! The fantastic Dollverse has recently posted this little tidbit:
“Dollhouse to be presented to press and advertisers May 15th. We should find out if Dollhouse is Fall or mid-season then. Yes, a tentative launch date for your calendar. Expect a lot of news that week.”
Be sure to visit the site for other related news on casting and shooting. However, they won’t post pilot details as they believe that it is up to Joss Whedon or FOX to do so, which I happen to agree with.

New Layout!

I’m sure most of you noticed that the site has been in ‘maintenance mode’ for several days, but I was busy working behind the scenes — the content has been completely updated and expanded upon i.e. most, if not all, of the pages you come across, so there’s plenty to see! Although I did get a little impatient, so I’ve launched the new layout before the filmographpy section has been completed, but rest assured that shall be completely finished by next week.
I have to give huge thanks to Mycah for designing the layout once again, and I’m completely in love with it; perfect for the upcoming ’season’ of news & images, don’t you think?
And finally, a small piece of trivia:
Today, April 25, is also Amy & James’s wedding anniversary — they have now been married for 5 years — congrats! And I’m sure you’ll agree with me in sending our best wishes for a lovely day.

‘Dollhouse’ Details

In case you haven’t been keeping up with the developments on this new show, I’ve posted the basic synopsis (as written by Joss Whedon himself) and the little information that there is on Amy’s character — Dr. Claire Saunders — below.
If you wish to read further details, though be aware of minor spoilers, then head on over to E! Watch with Kristin (opens in a new window.)
“Echo (Eliza Dushku) is a young woman who is literally everybody’s fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo’s burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.”
What does the actress who plays Dr. Claire Saunders need to bring to the table?
Visible facial scars from a razor-blade attack somewhere in her past or a cooperative, calm personality and a willingness to sit quietly in a prosthetic makeup chair for extended periods each day. Scars notwithstanding, I’m kind of seeing Cynthia Watros or Kathleen Robertson in the part…
Recurring Role: Looks after the physical well-being of the dolls. Has an acid wit that she usually reserves for Topher, who may only be kidding about being smitten with her. (Or he may not.) She is scarred from a razor attack.

Amy Acker Joins ‘Dollhouse’!

OMG! I nearly fell off my chair when Bad Fred let me know about this, but yes, it’s true! Amy HAS been cast in the upcoming Eliza Dushku-Joss Whedon series, Dollhouse (!!) Hopefully, this’ll mean another regular fixture on our screens a la Angel or Alias. Exciting news!
Joss Whedon posted on Whedonesque:
Hi campers. We’re having the read-through of the script today. Why would I be nervous? YOU’RE nervous! Anyhoo, I just couldn’t resist letting you know that the recurring roles have actually been cast for some time now. I’m shocked that any part of our casting process hasn’t been leaked somehow. And though I’m a fan of secrets, I’ll give you the last two pieces of this particular puzzle:
November (who will be recurring but does not appear in the pilot) will be played by the luminous Miracle Laurie.
Dr. Claire Saunders will be played by… yet another name I’m gonna have trouble remembering how to spell… Amy Acker.
All in all, pound for pound, soup to nuts, man vs beast, it’s a pretty amazing ensemble. I’m not sure how I landed this troupe, but rest assured I’m gonna write bestest good word for talkacting to them yes! They’re in good hands.
Onward… to adventure! -j.
