I found this great “Insider Analysis” on another article about Amy being cast in the Happy Town pilot.

Good for Amy Acker landing a TV…

“But wait!!!!” fans of a certain Joss Whedon-produced FOX drama are screaming, “Isn’t Amy Acker at least a recurring actor on ‘Dollhouse?’”

Well yes. She is. And Acker taking a job on an ABC pilot can either mean something or it can mean nothing and, either way, the Hollywood Reporter casting story offered no hints.

Two obvious possibilities:

1) Acker’s Dr. Claire Saunders, already mentally and physically scarred, isn’t long for this Earth. That isn’t a spoiler, kids. I only know what happens in Episode Four and, as far as I know, Acker’s character remains alive. After that? All bets are off.

2) Acker and the rest of the “Dollhouse” cast have seen the show’s ratings and they’re aware that even on a Friday night, 4.2 million viewers isn’t cutting it. So they could just be hedging their bets. In such cases, most actors would have it in their contract that the existing show would be in first position, meaning that if “Dollhouse” gains momentum and FOX decides to bring it back, ABC would have to recast the role in “Happy Family.” That would only be an issue, though, if both “Dollhouse” and “Happy Family” had schedule slots for next season and Acker’s character survived on “Dollhouse.”

Just don’t read too much into it! Or at least not necessarily.

Another (very unlikely) possibility is that since Amy’s role in Dollhouse seem to be so minor, she may have the time to shoot both series at the same time.

According to Zap2it, Amy has been cast in a pilot for a new series called Happy Town.  What would this mean for her role on Dollhouse?  Well, we don’t even know if her character survives the first season.  We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Amy Acker may be moving out of the “Dollhouse” and into “Happy Town.”

The former “Angel” star has taken a role in the ABC pilot “Happy Town,” a mystery set in a small town. She headlines a round of pilot casting that also includes Eric Christian Olsen, Brad Henke and Taylor Schilling.

Acker currently co-stars on FOX’s “Dollhouse” as a doctor who tends to the mind-wiped “actives” in the titular super-secret organization. The show has just about wrapped up filming for the season, but what her casting at ABC means for either her character or the series remains to be seen.

In “Happy Town,” Acker will play the wife of the town’s police chief (Geoff Stults), according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot, which will also feature Dean Winters, is about what happens after the town is hit by its first serious crime in several years.

Dollhouse episode two aired last night (as if you didn’t already know).  Once again, Amy was only in a couple brief scenes.  I guess we’re just going to have to get used to that since her role is so minor.  Even so, close to 100 high definition screencaptures have been added to the gallery.
