‘Happy Town’ info
|
I’ve been searching for and collecting what little bits of information I can find about Happy Town – the ABC pilot Amy just finished shooting. Here are a few:
TVGuide.com: What’s next for you two?
Appelbaum: We’re doing a [pilot] called Happy Town, for ABC [and revolving around a small town rocked by a horrific crime].
Rosenberg: It’s got a really cool ensemble [including Jay Paulson, Amy Acker, Dean Winters and Robert Wisdom]. We’re all huge fans of Twin Peaks and the Stephen King novels, and hopefully we can create a world worthy of those reference points. There hasn’t been a straight-out scary show on TV in years, and hopefully this will deliver.
TVGuide.com: Tell me about the fall pilot you’re working on.
Benrubi: It’s called Happy Town. It’s a Twin Peaks-esque murder-in-a-small-town story. I play the guy who owns the pizza shop in this town full of eccentric characters. They have their first murder in seven years, and all kinds of spooky wackiness ensues.
And now you’re doing another mystery for ABC, right?
Appelbaum: Yeah — we’re masochists. [Both laugh]
Rosenberg: We’re shooting it now, we’re actually in Toronto right now. It’s called Happy Town. It’s very Twin Peaks-ish. It’s like a scary show, a small-town spook show.
Appelbaum: It’s a huge ensemble, a two-hour pilot. It’s a big, robust ensemble piece.
Rosenberg: Gary Fleder, who directed the Life on Mars pilot and the October Road pilot, is directing this one, and he’s killing it. The stuff is amazing; it’s really coming out great.
Appelbaum: And the cast is great — Geoff Stults is the lead, but then we have Amy Acker and Sam Neill and M.C. Gainey from Lost and Frances Conroy from Six Feet Under. It’s a great ensemble.
As a big fan of Twin Peaks back in the day, I can’t wait to see this show. Perhaps we should all start sending letters in to ABC now to help convince them to give Happy Town a chance?

Re: ‘Dollhouse’ press releases
|
I’ve received several emails asking why I stopped posting the episode press releases for Dollhouse. It’s a personal decision I’ve made since I want to know as little about the remaining episodes as possible. I apologize if this inconveniences any of you

Joss has hopes for season two…
|
While FOX hasn’t made an official announcement about the fate of Dollhouse (and aren’t likely to until the upfronts in May), here is what Joss said at the recent Paley Fest:
To be clear, there has been no official pick up, but Joss is optimistic that the network — filled with execs who love the show, he says — will be looking at the full picture, including iTunes purchases, DVR playback, hulu streaming, etc., and he reassured fans that the people who canned his previous FOX TV endeavor Firefly are not a part of the team that will decide if Dollhouse returns.
And the 13th episode which FOX announced last week that it would not be airing:
“I’ve been in contact with the network and the studio making a great big push for them to [air that last hour],” Joss said. “The problem isn’t just with the network though, the studio also looks at it and goes, DVD goodness! So, [my goal] is getting them both excited about putting it on the air. They’re looking in to it, I haven’t gotten an answer yet, but I know that they are honestly discussing it, the same way they are obviously discussing a second season.
And finally, what does the future hold for our girl Amy?
“… clearly [Dr. Saunders] has a history with Alpha, so what would be the worst possible thing that could happen to her? Probably running into Alpha. What are the odds I would do something like that?”
