With the Dollhouse premiere less than a month away (can you believe it?), I’m sure we’re going to be seeing more Amy interviews and appearances.  I, of course, will be covering it all to the best of my ability.  Here’s a little something that was posted today on Total Sci-fi.

The people who made Angel really love Amy Acker. When Joss Whedon hired her for to play Fred Burkle in the show, co-creator/executive producer Joss Whedon declared: “She’s stolen all of our hearts – and now we’re afraid she won’t give them back!” Acker was a regular on Angel for four years, before being hired by erstwhile Angel showrunner Tim Minear to play Nathan Fillion’s wife on the short-lived Drive, and had a recurring gig as a badass spy on Alias in between. Part one of my 21 and a Wake Up treat has arrived.  Thanks once again to Chris, I have a much better version of the trailer.  I’ve added over 100 screencaptures to the gallery.  I’m hoping to get a good quality download of it for you guys soon.

I can’t even begin to describe how happy I am to be posting this.  I have been in contact with the writer and director of 21 and a Wake Up, Chris McIntyre, and he has given me some excellent information about the movie.  While no official release date has been stated, this is what he had to say about the progress of the film:

I’ll be doing several more test screenings of “21″ with different audiences. The Bellingham audience was principally doctors and nurses, since it’s a medical story, and the one in Chicago will be primarily military people through the USO.

He also mentions that he will be doing some screenings at various colleges and a possible screening in the Washington, D.C. area. Check your local papers for any warning of these. As for the release of the finished product:

We will be doing a slow rollout of the film in March in several theaters in each of three cities, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, expanding slowly to other cities in the spring.

He was also nice enough to give us fans some information about the title of the film and what it means:

For your fans curious about the title, it has three meanings:

The first is that a major event transforms Amy’s character’s life when she has 21 days left in country, “21 and a Wakeup” being standard military jargon for a person who has 21 days left before leaving a combat zone, or leaving the army itself.

Secondly, while the average age of soldiers in Vietnam was 19, the average age of nurses was 21, because they went through two years of nursing school, travelling to Vietnam at 21 to wake up to horrors they could not have imagined.

Thirdly, America was in Vietnam for 21 years, 1954 to 1975, waking up to the first war it ever lost.

Hello Amy fans!  I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season.  I know I did!  Anyway, on to the news:

I came across a brief article about Amy’s movie 21 and a Wake Up.  Apparantly, it had a theatrical showing in Bellingham, Washington on January 4th.  I apologize that I did not find out until now and couldn’t give advance warning.  According to this article though, it should be released nationwide sometime in February.

Chris McIntyre is using showings in Bellingham and other cities to perfect the movie before it opens in theaters across the country in February.

I have found no other source for this information so for now we should consider it as only a rumor.  Check back later in the week – I have lots of goodies I’m planning on adding and part two of the Ted Stokes interview should be available soon.
