Zap2it article
Post Categories: 'Dollhouse', Articles & Reviews

Back on March 20th, zap2it posted an article about Dollhouse and what’s in store for the final episodes.  Here’s what they had to say about Amy.

Fans of Amy Acker, on the other hand, will be getting additional insight into Dr. Saunders pretty soon. According to Whedon, “I love that character, not just because it’s Amy Acker, but because she wears misery and torture on her face literally. We will definitely learn how she came to this fabulous career. In the last few episodes, we get to turn the Acker up pretty hot and it’s very exciting.”

New interview with Joss
Post Categories: 'Dollhouse', Articles & Reviews

A new interview with Joss Whedon was posted on hitfix and this is what he had to say about Amy in the remaining episodes of Dollhouse.

“Yes, we sure are. I love that character, not just because it’s Amy Acker, but because she wears misery and torture on her face literally. We will definitely learn how she came to this fabulous career. In the last few episodes, we get to turn the Acker up pretty hot and it’s very exciting.”

The ‘Dollhouse’/'Happy Town’ dilemma

I found this great “Insider Analysis” on another article about Amy being cast in the Happy Town pilot.

Good for Amy Acker landing a TV…

“But wait!!!!” fans of a certain Joss Whedon-produced FOX drama are screaming, “Isn’t Amy Acker at least a recurring actor on ‘Dollhouse?’”

Well yes. She is. And Acker taking a job on an ABC pilot can either mean something or it can mean nothing and, either way, the Hollywood Reporter casting story offered no hints.

Two obvious possibilities:

1) Acker’s Dr. Claire Saunders, already mentally and physically scarred, isn’t long for this Earth. That isn’t a spoiler, kids. I only know what happens in Episode Four and, as far as I know, Acker’s character remains alive. After that? All bets are off.

2) Acker and the rest of the “Dollhouse” cast have seen the show’s ratings and they’re aware that even on a Friday night, 4.2 million viewers isn’t cutting it. So they could just be hedging their bets. In such cases, most actors would have it in their contract that the existing show would be in first position, meaning that if “Dollhouse” gains momentum and FOX decides to bring it back, ABC would have to recast the role in “Happy Family.” That would only be an issue, though, if both “Dollhouse” and “Happy Family” had schedule slots for next season and Acker’s character survived on “Dollhouse.”

Just don’t read too much into it! Or at least not necessarily.

-Daniel Fienberg

Another (very unlikely) possibility is that since Amy’s role in Dollhouse seem to be so minor, she may have the time to shoot both series at the same time.

‘Dollhouse’ review excerpts
Post Categories: 'Dollhouse', Articles & Reviews

There are so many reviews out for Dollhouse now that I really don’t want to post them all.  Here is what some of them have been saying about Amy and/or her character Dr. Saunders.

Amy Acker (an actress I’m happy to see anywhere) is the seemingly fragile doctor who cares for the Actives. – zap2it.com

Try as much as you want, Mr. Whedon. No amount of artificial scarring will ever make Amy Acker ugly. – tvsquad.com

…and the quiet, scar-faced medical doctor, Claire Saunders (Amy Acker, “Alias,” “Angel”). Acker had about five lines, but I liked them all. She’s been fantastic whether playing the sweet, doe-eyed Fred on “Angel” or the murderous Peyton on “Alias,” and since they went to the trouble of giving her scars, she’s got to have some kind of story. – pioneerlocal.com

…even Amy Acker’s presence is a warm welcome… – ifmagazine.com

Amy Acker (Fred on “Angel”) plays a timid and scarred – literally, her face is all cut up – physical therapist whose depressing back story will undoubtedly unfold with Echo in tow. I’m guessing, too, that the good doctor will be an ally for Echo as she remembers more and more. – blog.al.com

Joss on developing ‘Dollhouse’
Post Categories: 'Dollhouse', Articles & Reviews

Somehow, I could not stop myself from casting Amy Acker, even if I tried, because she’s just so talented.

Emmy and Academy Award nominee Joss Whedon is one of Hollywood’s top talents, scripting several hit films and creating one of television’s most critically praised shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A New York native, the 44-year-old is a third-generation television writer with a degree in film studies from Wesleyan University, who landed his first writing job on the staff of the top-rated series Roseanne. After creating BuffyAngel. In addition to serving as creator and executive producer of both series, along with the 2002 sci-fi drama Firefly, he also wrote and directed multiple episodes of each. as a feature film script, Whedon brought it to television in 1996, where it became a cult phenomenon, and led to its 1998 spin-off

Whedon spoke to MediaBlvd Magazine about developing his latest series, Dollhouse, and how Eliza Dushku prompted his return to television.
